Rhyl & Prestatyn: Time To Shine Event
Pontins in Prestatyn will swing open its doors on Saturday, July 2, to give children and the young people of the area an opportunity to see what sports, clubs and associations are available to them.
From 11am until 3pm representatives from a variety of organisations will be present at the site on Barkby Avenue ready to give youngsters a taste of the array of clubs that are on their doorstep and are open for them to join and enjoy!
Some of those who will be present include:
• North Wales Police Volunteer Cadets
• North Wales School of Dance
• Prestatyn Young Firefighters (NWF&RS)
• Cadet Forces
• North Wales Ambulance Service
……. and many more!
“This event is aimed at encouraging local children and young people in the Rhyl and Prestatyn areas to try a new hobby or after school activity,” said PC Katherine Jones, who is a member of the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and helped organise the event in partnership with Pontins.
“This has not been done before and we hope that there’ll be something for everyone from the age of four to 17! As well as encouraging youngsters to try out a new skill, hobby or activity, it’s hoped that it will also help deter youths from anti-social behaviour.
“Local youth groups, cadet forces and emergency services will all be at the venue and demonstrations are also planned so that young people and their parents have a real insight into what’s on offer.”
The event is free and for those who go along, Pontins activities and services will be open to those attending free of charge.
A spokesperson at Pontins in Prestatyn said: “The team at Pontins are extremely happy to be supporting this event.”
PC Jones added: “There is still space for local groups to get involved and showcase their talents.
