Rogue traders on Anglesey
Police are urging Anglesey residents to be wary, following a spate of cold calling / rogue trader offences.
Officers are currently investigating a number of incidents across Anglesey where vulnerable elderly people have been charged extortionate amounts of money for work undertaken on their properties.
DC Catherine Walker said: “We are strongly advising residents, particularly the elderly, not to accept any requests from cold callers to complete building/repair work at their home addresses.”
“We are advising members of the public who have been cold called to contact us with details of the persons, companies and vehicles involved.”
Should members of the public need work completing we urge them to contact Anglesey Trading Standards Buy with Confidence Scheme on 01248 752840 / www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk who can provide a choice of approved traders.
“It needs to be highlighted that all members of society need to be vigilant and people need to be advised not to accept requests to complete work from cold callers. If you are in any doubt call the police on 101.”
