Serious collision between cyclist and HGV

An elderly man remains in hospital following a serious road traffic collision in Wrexham yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 8th March). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Shortly before 3pm police received a report of a collision involving a pedal cyclist and a heavy goods vehicle on Clywedog Road South on the Wrexham Industrial Estate. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

An ambulance was called and the 76-year-old pedal cyclist was taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. He has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number U033578. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
