Serious collision in Criccieth

Two people have been airlifted to hospital following a serious collision in Criccieth. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Shortly after midday today (Tuesday, 9th February) police were called to a report of a collision involving a VW Polo and a Ford Fiesta on the A497 near to the Bron Eifion Hotel. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

All three emergency services attended as well as the Air Ambulance and two women were airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor. Both have sustained what is believed to be serious injuries. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The road remains closed at this time. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Police are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision to contact officers at the Western Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number U019505. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
