North Wales Police’s very own Super Girl pounded the streets of London to raise money for Crimestoppers. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

It was an early start for PC Susie Davies on Sunday 24th April – a day that she had been training hard for since last November. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The 38-year-old mother of two admits the furthest she had run prior to the marathon was 20 miles, so the challenge was on to make sure she got the extra 6.2 miles in. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I felt very nervous but really excited, dressed in my Super girl outfit,” said Susie. “There were thousands of people preparing themselves for the 26.2 miles we had ahead and the pavements were full of supporters with banners and flags.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The atmosphere was amazing, with strangers shouting my name and really encouraging all the runners with such enthusiasm. There were bands and DJ’s playing at different points.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I felt great running with no injuries or complaints. However my legs were getting really heavy around mile 20.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

But once she got to mile 23, despite the size of the crowd and the noise, she heard her sister calling her name. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The last 3 miles were definitely the hardest 3 miles I have ever ran, it felt like it was taking me ages and every part of my body was telling me to stop, but there was no way that was happening. Once I turned into the Mall I could see the finish I threw my hands in the air and kept running.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Susie finished the race in 4 hours and 53 minutes and has raised over £1,400 for Crimestoppers – a small charity which does a lot of good work, providing the police with anonymous information from the public that helps to solve crimes. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I did it! What an amazing experience and one I will never forget,” she exclaimed. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support, donations and the lovely messages that I have received. The support has been absolutely fantastic. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
