Wrexham Attempted Robberies Arrest
Police investigating two attempted robberies in Wrexham on Sunday have arrested a man.
A 36 year old local male was arrested this morning, February14, on suspicion of attempted robbery at McColls newsagents in Rhosnesni Lane and at the Spar on Chester Road, Gresford.
The incident in Rhosnesni happened at 7.50am on Sunday February 12 and at 8.05am in Gresford.
It’s understood that three men took part; one armed with a hammer and a second with a knife, while a third remained in a stolen red Fiat car which was later found abandoned at the Beeches Premier Inn on Chester Road.
DI Mark Hughes said; “A 36 year old male is currently in custody at Wrexham Police station helping police with enquiries.
“I would like to repeat our appeal to the public for any information about these offences on Sunday and the recent incidents in the Wrexham area where newsagents and off licences have been robbed.
