Gwynedd schoolchildren will be seen cycling around their area thanks to the gift of lights from the community.
Llanllyfni Community Council and North Wales Police have successfully worked together to provide bike lights for school pupils who took part in the Gwynedd Council Cycling Proficiency scheme in the Penygroes area.
The council agreed to part fund the lights in honour of three of their councillors who passed away, and PCSOs David Harding and Julie Holland obtained the remainder of the money from the High Sheriff’s crime beat fund.
PCSO Harding said: “The wives of the late councillors attended at the primary schools to hand out the lights to lucky pupils of, Ysgol Bro Lleu, Ysgol Talysarn.”
“And during the presentations we gave the children an insight into bike security as well as taking the opportunity to mark the bikes with security pens.”
Note
The lights were supplied by KK Cycles of Porthmadog.
Other schools who receive the training are also set to receive the lights.
