New McDonald’s Branch in Wrexham Applies for Late-Night Refreshment License

A NEW branch of McDonald’s which is set to open in Wrexham has applied to provide late-night refreshment.
The fast food giant announced in October last year that it was taking over the Pizza Hut unit on the city’s Central Retail Park.
The pizza restaurant closed the previous month after the company was given two-weeks’ notice to leave the premises.
McDonald’s said it was looking to open the new restaurant in early spring after taking on the lease of the building, with work currently being carried out to transform the site.
The company has now applied to Wrexham Council for a premises licence to provide late-night refreshment from the unit between the hours of 11pm to 5am seven days a week. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Anyone who wants to make representations on the application is asked to write to the local authority’s licensing officer by March 1, with a decision expected at a later date.
Several planning applications relating to the proposals have already been approved, with advertising signs recently being installed.
According to the documents, the new restaurant will help create a total of 70 jobs, including 30 full-time and 40 part-time roles.
One outstanding application seeks permission to reconfigure parking bays at the site and is awaiting a decision.
McDonald’s has confirmed there will not be a drive-thru facility at the restaurant due to a lack of space.
Concerns have been raised on numerous occasions regarding the parking situation at Wrexham’s other McDonald’s branch.
It came as motorists and delivery drivers clashed over the few available spaces near the restaurant on Regent Street.
The company opened a delivery kitchen at a unit on Rhosddu Industrial Estate last summer to alleviate the problem.
However, a bid to open a drive-thru restaurant on the Plas Coch Retail Park was rejected in June 2021 due to concerns about the impact on traffic and parking. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
