Residents Advised As “Let’s Sort It” Waste And Recycling Service Starts

Wrexham residents will soon begin the third week of the new “Let’s Sort It” Waste and Recycling Service, with the Council once again thanking residents for their patience and cooperation in this time of adjustment. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Over the past two weeks, recycling crews have continued to hand-sort recycling for those residents who are still mixing recycling with glass bottles and jars. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Wrexham Council would like to inform residents that from the week commencing October 17, crews will not be hand-sorting recycling, and any boxes where other recyclables have not been separated from glass will be marked as such. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Residents are asked to present their waste in the separate containers provided, as detailed in the new recycling leaflets that have been delivered to individual properties. A Welsh and English video detailing new recycling arrangements is also available on the council’s website. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Due to recent changes in regulations for processing compostable material, Wrexham Council would also like to remind residents that all types of cardboard are no longer permitted in the green garden waste bin. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Residents are asked to ensure all cardboard is now either placed in the top box of their Wheelie Box, or the blue bags provided for the Box and Bag scheme. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Residents are also advised to continue to check their calendars to see which bin is to be placed out, and to make sure they put the correct coloured bin out on the correct day. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Residents can also sign up to receive an email alert which will be sent the day before their bin and recyclables are due to go out. The email will also advise which colour bin needs to go out. Recyclables can be put out for collection every week. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
