Plans for a new McDonald’s drive-through have been submitted on the site of a former car dealership in Tondu, near Bridgend.
The application comes just months after a separate submission for McDonald’s banners and signage was handed in for the land on Trews Field Industrial Estate, off Tondu Road.
If given the go-ahead, it would see the construction of a two-storey, drive-through McDonald’s, at the former SJB Car Sales building – which is also near to a Booker wholesalers just off the A4063 dual carriageway.
The plans would also include landscaping, cycle storage, and a car park with 44 spaces, along with an external children’s play area on the patio. Vehicle access would be via Trews Field Industrial Estate Road.
The application says if approval is granted by the local authority over the coming months, it could create up to 120 full and part-time jobs, in a restaurant that would operate 24 hours a day from Monday to Sunday.
The report read: “It is proposed to redevelop the site to provide a 474sqm GEA double-storey McDonald’s restaurant with side-by-side drive-through facilities. The customer area would be 92sqm with 101 seats.”
The site is just over one mile from Bridgend town centre, and just over two miles from the nearest McDonald’s at Bridgend Retail Park in Waterton. It could potentially join three other McDonald’s currently located across the borough of Bridgend if approved by council bosses. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
