Can You Get The Childcare You Need?
Bridgend County Borough Council is inviting parents and carers to have their say on the childcare issues that matter to them most by completing an online survey.
Councillor Hailey Townsend, the council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Social Services and Equalities, said: “We’d like people to share their views on the suitability of local childcare to help us identify any gaps in provision.
“Childcare is such a vital issue for so many local people, and we want to find out whether the childcare that is currently available throughout the county borough is sufficient and ties in with the demands of modern life.
“For example, is it easy to find childcare that fits around your work or studies? Was it particularly difficult during the summer holidays while the kids were off, or now that they are back in school is it a struggle to find the wrap around care you need?
“Is there enough childcare provision at locations that suit you, at the times you require, and at an acceptable price?
“We want to hear about all of the factors that are important. As well as inviting views from parents and carers who are already using some form of childcare, we’d also like to hear from those who are expecting a baby and are starting to plan their childcare arrangements.”
The online consultation, which will be open until 15 November, can be completed at www.bridgend.gov.uk/consultation.
Everyone who completes the council’s ‘Childcare Sufficiency’ survey will be entered into a free prize draw to win a family ticket (two adults and two children) to see the Jack and the Beanstalk panto at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl on Saturday 10 December (terms and conditions apply).
