Charter Sets Out How Local Councils Will Work Together

A special agreement has been signed which aims to bring the different tiers of local government in Bridgend County Borough closer together so that services can be improved for residents. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The newly revised ‘Town and Community Council Charter’ is a commitment made by Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with the various town councils and community councils. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Councillor Huw David, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Deputy Leader, said: “Given the considerable budget pressures being faced by local government, it is vitally important that we work together to tackle the challenges ahead. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The charter sets out how we will work more closely than ever in partnership and share good practice to deliver the best possible value for money services in our communities.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The charter was updated following the publishing of the Welsh Government’s White Paper ‘Reforming Local Government: Power to Local People’, and will be reviewed annually. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
