Drop-In Session Asks For Views On Coastal Flooding And Erosion

Porthcawl residents are being invited to attend a drop-in session next week which will look at the risk of coastal flooding and erosion at Sandy Bay and along the Eastern Promenade. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council, the session will take place at the Rock Inn in John Street on Tuesday 6 December between 1.30pm – 7.30pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Residents will be able to find out more about and take part in a study which will help determine whether further improvements need to be made to guard against the future risk of flooding. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The council is particularly keen to hear from people who may have previously experienced coastal flooding and erosion in the Porthcawl area, especially if they have photographs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Councillor Ceri Reeves, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “The Welsh Government is looking to invest in coastal defences at a number of key locations across Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“This study forms an important part of identifying feasible solutions to a possible rise in future sea levels, so I hope that as many people as possible will come to the session and share their thoughts and experiences.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
