Bargoed Sight Centre A ‘Dementia Friendly’ Business
Bargoed Sight Centre has become the first business in Bargoed to become a ‘Dementia Friendly’ business.
Staff at Bargoed Sight Centre have undertaken an interactive training session – provided by the Alzheimer’s Society – which aims to make businesses more aware of how to assist people who are living with dementia. The session also offers staff a useful insight into what people who are living with dementia experience in their day-to-day lives and how businesses can support them.
Alice Lewis, owner and manager of Bargoed Sight Centre said, “I’ve learned a huge amount, particularly in relation to the emotional issues that people living with dementia often experience. The session has been incredibly useful and will allow us to better serve our community”.
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Town Centre Management Team are working with the Alzheimer’s Society to offer free training sessions to Caerphilly county borough businesses who would like to take part.
