Caerphilly’s Youth Forum Attend Senedd Opening

Five young people from Caerphilly county borough’s Youth Forum were invited to attend the 5th State Opening of the Welsh Assembly at the Senedd. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Members of the Caerphilly Youth Forum Lauren Prosser, Emily Jones, Imogen Jones, Daniel Rodrick and Thomas Richards attended the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to witness the official opening. They were joined by children from across Wales who gathered on the steps of the Senedd to welcome The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall as they arrived at the Senedd. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Derek Havard, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning said: “I am delighted that members of Caerphilly’s Youth Forum were invited to attend such an important event. Lauren, Emily, Imogen, Daniel and Thomas all had the opportunity to meet the Royal guests, as well as witnessing the official opening of the Senedd. This was truly a once in a life time opportunity”. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Mike Prew, Young People’s Champion said: “It is fantastic that members of the Youth Forum were able to attend the official opening of the Welsh Assembly at the Senedd. This is a memory that will stay with them forever”. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
