An innovative £25m shared learning campus will create close links between Eastern High and Cardiff and Vale College.
The new Eastern High school will accommodate 1200 pupils and courses and vocational training for 320 students over the age of 16 will be provided by Cardiff and Vale College.
Welcoming the latest progress, Director of Education and Lifelong Learning at Cardiff Council, Nick Batchelar said: “The joint learning campus we are delivering in partnership with Cardiff and Vale College will create a state-of-the art environment which will offer a smooth transition from school to college and encourage more students to remain in education and training after their GCSEs.”
The scheme will offer features available for the community to use – such as outdoor sports facilities which include an all-weather ‘3G’ pitch.
Principal and Chief Executive of Cardiff and Vale College, Mike James, added: “This new school and learning campus will be an inspirational facility, not just for young people but also for the local community and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the city council to deliver this exciting project.”
The new school will replace the existing facilities for Eastern High, currently located on the site formerly known as Rumney High School.
