Appeal For Information After Burglary In Machen, Caerphilly

Gwent Police are appealing for information following a burglary in the Rectory Gardens area of Machen yesterday (Friday 23rd September 2016) at approximately 6.30pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Having been disturbed by the occupant, the suspect made their way out of a nearby window and out towards the main road in Machen. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A tin containing money was stolen during the burglary. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The man is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10, with sandy coloured hair and of slim build. He was last seen getting into a car that then drove off in the direction of Caerphilly. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

– Make sure that all doors are locked and secured at all times and especially at night. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

– Notify a friend or neighbour if you are going to be away from the property. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

– Report any suspicious persons that may be taking a particular interest in a property ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

– Do not approach or question anyone that may be acting suspiciously report it to the police by ringing 999 in an emergency or 101 for general advice. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

– These incidents are rare, however can be prevented significantly by following the above ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
