Appeal For Information: Fail To Stop Road Traffic Collision Along The A472, Hafod-Yr-Ynys Road, Hafodyrynys

Gwent Police are appealing for information following a fail to stop road traffic collision on the A472, Hafod-yr-ynys Road (near to the layby approaching the brow of the hill) in the early hours of Sunday 8th May 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

At approximately 3.45am, a collision took place along the A472, involving a 37 year old pedestrian from the Crumlin area and a vehicle travelling from Crumlin towards Hafodyrynys. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The man was conveyed to the Royal Gwent Hospital with life threatening injuries and is currently in a critical condition in the University Hospital of Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The driver of the vehicle involved may or may not have been aware of their part in the collision and left the scene. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Officers are investigating this incident and are eager to speak to any motorist who was using the A472 in either direction between 3.30am and 3.50am on Sunday morning. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
