Body Of Man Found In Rhymney River Identified

On Saturday 1st October 2016, a body of a man was found in the Rhymney River in the Bargoed area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Today, (Monday 3rd October 2016), identification has taken place and we can confirm the deceased is that of 70 year old Robert Evans who was reported missing to Gwent Police on Monday 26th September 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Officers are not treating the death as suspicious at this time. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Bargoed Inspector, Ian Muirhead says: “Our thoughts are with Robert’s friends and family at this sad time. I’d like to thank the members of the community that took time out of their lives to help with the search and for all the people who shared our appeals for information.
