Brynmawr Officers Meet Second World War Evacuee

Every day our officers get the opportunity to meet new faces within our community… ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Last week, Brynmawr Officers CSO Linzi Nicholls and CSO Jo Robins had the pleasure of meeting 88 year old Kenneth Brown. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Kenneth was an evacuee during the second World War and was sent to Nantyglo to live in 1939/1940 when he was only 11 years old, he left his home in Eastham London and his home was later bombed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Ken lived in Nantyglo for a few years with a family and later moved onto Swindon. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

He was visiting the area for the day from Devon with his family to see if he could find the house he lived in all them years ago but he thinks it must have been demolished. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
