Fatal Road Traffic Collison, A467, Newbridge – Deceased Named and Tribute
The 58 year old male passenger who died following the road traffic collision in Newbridge on Wednesday (27th January) can now be named as 58 year old Paul Derek Daley from Cefn Fforest.
The family of Mr Daley has released the following tribute:
“Paul loved his family, who all loved him dearly. Paul and his girlfriend of 15 years Kay were head over heels in love.
“Paul was the type of brother and uncle that any family would be grateful for.
“He would light up a room with his sense of humour and wicked smile.
“Rest in peace Paul, we will all miss you very much.”
Mr Daley was travelling in a Citreon C3 when it collided with a VW Passat on the Trecelyn roundabout A467 at 9.55pm.
There were three occupants travelling in the C3. The female driver and back seat male passenger were both taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The male has since been released, but the female remains in hospital at this time in a stable condition.
The 22 year old male driver of the VW Passat from the Newport area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
