New Drivers Caught Speeding In Newport
Gwent Police have received reports of anti-social driving and excessive speeds on the SDR and surrounding roads.
We will be paying particular attention to this problem.
Recently, we have caught a motorist going 109 mph just 10 hours after passing their test.
Officers then caught a second driver who’d only had their licence for 5 months going at 100mph.
Inspector Matthew Havard said:
”If you ignore the speed restrictions or drive in an anti-social manner we will stop you and we will deal with any offences.
The safety of road users and pedestrians is paramount.
These particular offenders have shown no regard to any other road user’s safety and are putting lives at risk.
They will be disqualified from driving. Think about what that would mean for you”.
