Theft From Tesco Express, Malpas Road

We’re appealing for information following a theft that occurred at Tesco Express on Malpas Road in Newport last night, Tuesday 21st March at approximately 7.30pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A man attempted to steal items from the store and when confronted by a member of staff, pulled out a black handled knife. The offender ran away towards ‘Bath Store’, then ran down a small alley way towards Hollybush Avenue. No-one was harmed however the staff are understandably shaken. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Enquiries to locate the offender are currently ongoing and we’re appealing to anyone who may have seen the incident or who may know the identity of this man to come forward. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The offender is described as black, in his late 30’s or early 40’s and around 5ft 6. He spoke with a London accent and has a distinctive scar on his right cheek. He was wearing a black jacket with a black hooded top underneath, blue jeans and black trainers. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The offender was seen talking briefly to another man in the store and we’re keen to speak to this man. He is described as white, around 30 years old and wearing a black tracksuit. If this is you, please be reassured that you’re not in any trouble but we think you may be able to help with our enquiries. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
