Thieves Target Vehicles In Newport

Officers in Newport are asking residents to be extra vigilant following an increased number of reports of thefts from unattended vehicles during the last month. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Between the 20th of April and the 19th of May 2016 around 85 vehicles have been broken into with the majority having items stolen from inside. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Many vehicles were left secure and it seems thieves have broken in my smashing windows and picking locks. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Motorists in the area should ensure that whenever they leave their vehicle unattended it is secure and no items are left on view. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
