Three drugs warrants executed in Newport

Two men have been arrested following three drug warrants in Newport this morning, Tuesday 8th March. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Officers attended three addresses in the Lliswerry area at around 10:00am. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Quantities of drugs were seized from properties in Moorland Park and Broadmead Park. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A 33 year-old Lliswerry male was arrested for possession of Class B drugs, along with a 40 year-old male also from Lliswerry who was arrested for cultivating cannabis….both remain in police custody at this time. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Sergeant Alistair Frame who coordinated the raids said; “We hope this gives out a message to the community that we are committed to tackling drug issues in the area. We will continue to execute drugs warrants across Newport but I would also like to urge residents, if you have any information about drug use or supply, please contact us on 101.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
