Two homes targeted on Rectory Road, Swfrydd

We’re appealing for information following a distraction burglary that took place at an address on in Rectory Road, Swfrydd, near to Hafodyrynys on the evening of Friday 23rd September 2016 (Log 478 23/09/16) ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

At approximately 8pm, the occupant of the address, a woman in her sixties, answered the door to an unknown man. At this time, officers believe a second man entered the property through a rear window. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The occupant was unharmed but shaken and later realised that an amount of cash and jewellery had been stolen from his home. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

It appears at around the same time as this distraction burglary, a second burglary has taken place at another house on Rectory Road, Swfrydd where a set of car/house keys were stolen (Log 50 25/09/16) ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The following night (Saturday 24th September 2016) after 11pm the offenders have returned and stolen the victim’s car – a grey, Ford C Max from the garage. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The car was later found damaged and abandoned at 1am on Sunday 25th September 2016 on the A472 Hafodyrynys to Pontypool Road. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
