Update On Disorder In Pill: Six Arrests Made

We have now made six arrests, following the disorder in Pill in Newport yesterday evening. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

• 13 year old male arrested on suspicion of violent disorder
• 20 year old male arrested following the breach of a dispersal order
• 16 year old male arrested following the breach of a dispersal order
• 17 year old female arrested following the breach of a dispersal order
• 24 year old male arrested on suspicion of violent disorder
• 13 year old male arrested on suspicion of violent disorder ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A Dispersal Order will remain in place this weekend and extra patrols will take place across Newport to reassure residents and prevent further disorder. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Local Policing Commander Glyn Fernquest said: “We are taking this incident extremely seriously. I want to send a warning to anyone intent on causing trouble that you will be arrested. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We are currently viewing CCTV footage to identify others who were involved and I urge any members of the public with footage of the incident to please get in touch.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
