Watch…Police Pursuit Video Of A 17 Year Old Sentenced For Driving Offences

A 17 year old has been sentenced to 6 months in prison following a police pursuit. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

He was imprisoned for drug driving, driving with no licence/insurance and dangerous driving. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

On 2nd July 2016, PC Sean Meyrick was driving along Bristol Street in Newport when the driver of the offending vehicle began to speed up as soon as he noticed officers behind him. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The video footage below, shows the police pursuit and the 17 year old failing to stop. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

PC Meyrick then left the police vehicle which the offender started to reverse into and managed to get him out of the vehicle to arrest him. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

PC Sean Meyrick said: “The manner of driving displayed by this individual was outrageous. Many of the roads he was travelling along are in built up residential areas, with a 30mph limit. His total disregard for other road users and pedestrians was astonishing. We take a zero tolerance approach to anyone openly flouting the law in this way.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
