Your Voice: Traffic Operation – Argoed and Penmaen

Officers have been out in the Argoed and Penmaen areas this week conducting traffic operations.
Local residents in these areas have raised concerns about traffic offences, most specifically speeding, through the Your Voice process, and as a result it has been set as a policing priority.
On Wednesday (27th January) officers conducted traffic checks on The Rhiw and B4251, Oakdale Terrace, Penmaen, and on Abernant Road, Argoed.
On The Rhiw, which is signposted as an access only road, 15 vehicles were stopped and drivers were given verbal and written warnings.
On the B4251, Oakdale Terrace 100 vehicles were speed checked and the average speed recorded was 23 mph. The speed limit is 30mph.
On Abernant Road 100 vehicles were speed checked. A number of vehicles were stopped and drivers received verbal warnings, however, the average speed recorded was 27 mph. The speed limit is 30mph.
