Deadline Approaches for Requesting Elections to Fill Vacancies on Town Councils

A DEADLINE is looming for voters to request an election to fill a vacancy on a town council. 
A poll will take place to elect a new councillor to represent the St Kingsmark ward on Chepstow Town Council if ten electors from the area make a request in writing by Friday, February 20. 
If there aren’t enough requests for an election the vacancy on the volunteer council will be filed by co-option where existing councillors make an appointment. If an election is called it will take place no later than April 28. 
Requests need to be made in writing to Paul Matthews, the returning officer, at Monmouthshire County Council, The Rhadyr, Usk NP15 1GA. 
There is also a vacancy for the Little Mill Ward, on Llanbadoc Community Council. 
The deadline for 10 electors to request an election is Friday, March 6, with requests also having to be submitted in writing to Mr Matthews at Monmouthshire County Council. If an election is to take place it will be held no later than May 13. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
