The competition, which is being held in libraries across Wales, will encourage children to search their local NPT library to find a giant peach and be entered into a prize draw to win some fantastic Roald Dahl prizes. The competition will run in NPT Libraries from 1st September to 30th September 2016 to celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday on September 13th. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Children have been visiting libraries throughout the summer holidays, where they have been able to take part in The Big Friendly Read – a challenge to read 6 books over the summer holidays. NPT Libraries have seen an increase of children taking up the challenge this year with over a thousand children joining the challenge already. Libraries have also been holding Roald Dahl themed sessions including making Mr. Twit’s beard and creating their own BFG dream jars. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Council Leader Ali Thomas OBE said: “The Big Friendly Read is a great chance for children to celebrate Roald Dahl’s work and get them reading. I encourage children and parents in the NPT area to make use of their local library and to have some fun during the celebratory events.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

To celebrate Roald Dahl 100, libraries at Cwmafan, Glynneath, Pontardawe Arts Centre and Port Talbot will be hosting a show over the 8th and 9th of September. Children in Year 4 from 7 schools will be coming to see an actor perform a show celebrating Roald Dahl’s works. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
