Newport Fanzone Announced

A fanzone for the Wales v Belgium Euro 2016 quarter final game on Friday will be hosted by Rodney Parade thanks to a partnership between Newport City Council, Newport Live and the venue. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Councillor Debbie Wilcox, Leader of Newport City Council, said: “I was very keen that we were able to offer a venue in the city for local fans to watch the match after it became clear that was what people wanted. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I’m delighted we have been able to work with our leisure trust Newport Live and Rodney Parade to make sure this will happen. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We will all be cheering on Wales on Friday night and I would like to wish the team all the best, including our Newport talent in the squad, Chris Gunter and James Collins. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Rodney Parade’s team have been fantastic in supporting event. As host to the Football Association of Wales National Development Centre at NISV we feel the connection and can’t wait to be part of the fanzone delivery. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Stuart Davies, Chief Executive of Rodney Parade, said: “We’re delighted to be facilitating a Newport fanzone for such an important match, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Rodney Parade. We demonstrated with last year’s fireworks display what a wonderful venue we have here, and I have no doubt that Friday will be a great occasion. The gates will open at 4pm and food and drink will be available ahead of the 8pm kick off. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Admission is £3 for adults and children under 12 go free, the capacity of the venue is 5,000, tickets will be available online in advance from www.newportlive.co.uk or in person at the Riverfront Theatre or Newport Centre. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tickets will be available at the gate on the evening if they have not all gone. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
