Older residents have once again enjoyed a showcase of the services that are on offer to help them, thanks to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and its partners. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Council, which is committed to ensuring residents aged 50 plus enjoy safe, happy, healthy, social and independent lives, supports RCT’s 50 + forums, which are led by older people, for older people. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The council and the forums, as well as a range of partner agencies, filled the Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd with stalls, information, interactive displays and practical demonstrations earlier this month, at a consumer and safety-themed awareness day. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Free information and advice was on offer on a range of issues, including volunteering, affordable energy and energy efficiency, home safety and health care. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Among the partner agencies that supported the day were South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, To Good To Waste, Age Connects Morgannwg, Citizens’ Advice Bureaux, South Wales Police and more. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Mike Forey, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services, said: “The 50+ information and awareness days are becoming regular dates in our calendar and this is because they are so popular and useful. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“It is good to welcome so many people to the events, where they can easily access a range of information, advice and practical items that help them to maintain safe and independent lives. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The success of these events is testament to the work of the 50+ forum, which work with us to ensure older people are represented and that their specific needs and concerns are addressed. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“They are an interesting and rewarding group to be part of and they welcome new members. Thanks to the forums and the partner agencies that attended on the day for their ongoing support.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
