Celebrating Commonwealth Day on Monday, March 14
The Commonwealth Flag will fly outside the Civic Offices of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday, March 14.
To mark Commonwealth Day, around 500 Commonwealth Flags will be raised across Wales and the rest of the UK.
The 2016, ‘Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth’ event is being organised in association with The Royal Commonwealth Society.
The dedication and service at the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council offices at Clydach Vale at 10am on Monday, March 14, will be led by Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Cllr Barry Stephens JP and Council Leader, Cllr Andrew Morgan.
During the service and flag-raising ceremony, a specially-written Commonwealth Affirmation will also be read out to those gathered.
This Commonwealth-wide initiative enables people in their local communities to become involved and join with others nationwide in associating themselves with widespread public expression of commitment to the Commonwealth, appreciation of the values it stands for, and the opportunities offered to its citizens around the world.
Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Cllr Barry Stephens JP, said: “Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is delighted to once again be taking part in this event.
“Flying the Commonwealth Flag is an important and most imaginative way for the people of our County Borough to join together with others throughout the Commonwealth in a spirit of co-operation, partnership and understanding.”
The Commonwealth Day service and dedication ceremony takes place at the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council offices, Clydach Vale, at 10am on Monday, March 14.
