Essential Road Closure of A4058 from Hopkinstown (after speed camera) to Trehafod (Rhondda Heritage Park roundabout) on Sunday 28th February (weather permitting). ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

This vital closure is set to take place on Sunday 28th February from 3am until 6am on Monday 29th February (27 hours total) and will see Gyfeillion Bridge in Hopkinstown replaced as part of the Council’s wider £7.2m investment in highways and structures for 2015/16. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

he bridge which leads to Barry Sidings and nearby properties was in desperate need of repair and various preparatory works have been undertaken over the last few months – this final phase will see the old bridge taken out and replaced with a new purpose built structure. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Due to the location of the bridge a crane will be situated along the A4058 to lift the old and new bridges in to place – as such this road will need to be closed to traffic for their safety. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Diversion routes are in place along the A4119 and A473 and are clearly signposted in and around the area for those affected (web only and can be viewed here). Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and the Council is working with public transport operators to minimise disruption where possible. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
