Football Fanzone Is Back!
With Wales now in the semi-final of Euro 2016, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is delighted to confirm the free to enter fanzone in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, will be back for Wednesday’s match.
This means whether you live in Clydach Bale, Mountain Ashley, Daaron (Ramsey) Park, Tonypandy (King) or Abercoleman or anywhere else in RCT, you can watch the match for free on a giant screen with thousands of other Welsh fans.
Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Councillor Andrew Morgan, said: “Wales’ quarter final match against Belgium was a great occasion for the huge number of fans who came along to the RCT Fanzone in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd to enjoy the match and support the boys.
“I am pleased to confirm that the giant screen will be back for Wednesday’s match against Portugal and that 3,000 people will once again be able to enjoy the unique experience of the RCT Fanzone.
“It will be free to enter again and I would remind fans to take note of the guidance for visiting the Fanzone and to follow @RCTCouncil on Twitter for Fanzone updates.
“Once again I would like to thank the Police for their support with the Fanzone. I have been inundated with messages thanking the Council for putting it on but it really wouldn’t have been possible without the positive involvement and support of South Wales Police.
“On Friday we welcomed supporters young and old to enjoy the game and we expect Wednesday will be no different and rest assured we will be well prepared to do it all again for the final on Sunday 10 July!”
Here’s everything you need to know about Friday’s Fanzone:
– The Fanzone will be open from 6.30pm and fans are advised to get there early to ensure everyone can get in safely prior to kick off at 8pm.
– Entry will be via the park’s main entrance and via the Taff Street Bridge.
– A maximum of 3,000 fans can be accommodated into the Fanzone and once capacity has been reached entry will only be permitted on a one in, one out basis with last entry at 8.45pm.
– Re-entry into the Fanzone will not be permitted.
– Alcohol will not be on sale in the Fanzone.
– Fans aged 18+ can bring a reasonable amount of alcohol with them in to the Fanzone but are encouraged to drink responsibly – please note you may be asked to provide ID.
– For safety reasons, fans will be asked to use plastic cups provided. Anyone not doing so may be ejected from the Fanzone
– Fans will be subject to security checks prior to entry into the Fanzone.
– Glasses and/or glass bottles will not be permitted in the Fanzone and will be confiscated by security prior to entry.
– Flares and/or fireworks will not be permitted in the Fanzone and will be confiscated by security prior to entry.
– Food can be purchased in the Fanzone.
– Under 16s will not be permitted entry unless accompanied by an adult.
South Wales Police have given their full support for the RCT Fanzone and the Council urges all fans to drink responsibly to ensure everyone can enjoy the match and the Fanzone experience.
For Wednesday’s match fans aged 18+ will once again be able to bring in a reasonable amount of alcohol with them but for safety reasons will be asked to decant drink from cans etc. into plastic cups which will be provided on entry. Anyone not doing so may be ejected from the Fanzone.

Please note that in order to facilitate the Fanzone, Ynysangharad War Memorial Park and Lido Ponty will close early on Wednesday 6 July at 6pm.
The RCT Fanzone will open Wednesday 6 July at 6.30 for Wales’ Euro 2016 semi-final against Portugal.
