Fun For The Family At Aberdare Festival

Come along and join the FREE fun for all the family at Aberdare Festival this Bank Holiday Weekend. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Council is delighted to host the 2016 Aberdare Festival within the picturesque surroundings of Aberdare Park on Saturday, May 28. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There will be live music throughout the day on the main stage, offering something for everyone, featuring such tribute acts as Only One Direction, Beeyonce, In The Mix, Like Olly and Living on a Prayer. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Other attractions on the day include a Junior Assault Course, Land Zorbs, Outdoor Roller Skating, Donkey Rides, Gyro Wheel, The Mad Scientist Show and a soft play area for under-fives. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There will also be stilt walkers, jugglers and balloon model-makers throughout the day. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

You may also bump into a full-size giraffe, complete with her keeper, plus a full-size dinosaur! ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Other attractions on the day include a family funfair, fun inflatables for all ages, a model boats display and the chance to go along and meet the farm animals and exotic animals – and lots more. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Council Business, said: “Over the years, Aberdare Festival has fast become a popular annual event in the Council’s calendar, attracting visitors from far and wide. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Offering fun for all ages, this free, open-air spectacular, promises to be a great day out for all the family and we hope as many people as possible will come along and join us. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“As well as well as the return of Aberdare Festival, the Council has also been pleased to successfully secure a stage start for the Tour of Britain taking place in September. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Aberdare Park is to also set host the start of Stage Five of this year’s Tour of Britain later in the year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Some of the country’s top riders will be visiting the County Borough on Thursday, September 8, for the start of the race at Aberdare Park, with spectators expected to line the entire route of Stage Five to its finish in Bath. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The 2016 Tour of Britain takes place from Sunday, September 4, to Sunday, September 11, with live television coverage daily. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
