Make Nos Galan The People’s Choice!

The world-famous Nos Galan Road Races has been shortlisted in the 2016 People’s Choice Awards. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Organised by WalesOnline, the Council’s annual New Year’s Eve’s celebration in Mountain Ash has been shortlisted in the Best Events category. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The People’s Choice Awards recognise the ‘cream of the crop of the best in Wales.’ ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The six categories are Best Restaurant, Best Bar/Nightclub, Best Pub, Best Café, Best Family Attraction and Best Event. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Voting is open to the public. Vote for the Nos Galan Road Races ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Chair of the Nos Galan Committee and Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Nos Galan Road Races has previously been crowned the Best Fun Run in Britain at the UK Running Awards, and has been shortlisted again this year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“But to also be nominated for the People’s Choice Award in Wales is so special to everyone associated with the Nos Galan Road Races. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Demand for race places is always in high demand as soon as we open online registration, months ahead of our event each year. This highlights the amazing popularity of our event, which also attracts thousands of spectators to the streets of Mountain Ash every New Year’s Eve. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The public love the Nos Galan Road Races and now is their chance to get behind us and vote in the 2016 People’s Choice Awards.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Voting will close at 4pm on Friday, March 4. The winners will be announced on Thursday, March 10. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
