County Borough Councillor, Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, said: “Maureen has demonstrated her skills and abilities as a Cabinet Member over the last six years, holding a number of key portfolios. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Maureen is a strong voice for the community she represents, and as Deputy Leader I am confident she will offer an equally strong voice for the Council. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Maureen will ensure the Council continues to make strong progress in terms of service delivery and, despite the cuts to funding we face, continues to protect frontline services. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I would like to place on record my thanks to Cllr Montague for the service he has given to the Cabinet over the last two years and also as the Council’s Deputy Leader over the last year.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

County Borough Councillor Maureen Webber, who is also currently the Cabinet Member for Council Business, said: “I am delighted to be able to play an even stronger role in supporting the Leader of the Council, Cllr Andrew Morgan and the Cabinet to take forward the priorities of the communities we represent. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“In my new role I am keen to support the Leader of the Council in dealing with the significant challenges the Council and our communities face due to the ongoing impact of austerity on the public sector. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I will also want to ensure, as Deputy Leader of the Council, that we continue to develop our approach to engagement to ensure we are communicating effectively with our communities around the decisions we make.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Maureen Webber was first elected to the Council in December 1996. Cllr Webber has previously served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Licensing Committee and has served as a Cabinet Member of the Council under previous Council Leaders since 2010. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
