Local volunteers, with the help of Torfaen Play Service, are supporting the project to help improve local routes. A series of subways in the Greenmeadow area are currently being revamped and transformed to make them more inviting for the community to access. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The project follows the ‘Safer Routes to School’ project which was carried out previously on subways within the Cwmbran area. The intention is that by making the subways more inviting with bright and colourful artwork, it will enable children, young people and the community feel comfortable to use them more. In total three subways within the Greenmeadow area will receive the artistic makeover. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Local volunteers from the community have given up their free time to support the project along with volunteers, trainees and apprentices from the local authority’s Play Service. The project has been supported by ward councillors, councillor Bob Wellington and councillor Mandy Owen, local volunteers and the local community group CoStar who provided the paint and resources. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
