Plans to Convert Old Valleys Town Hall and Nightclub into Flats and Commercial Space Under Consideration by RCT Council

An old Valleys town hall and nightclub will be turned into flats and commercial space if plans are approved.
There’s a planning application for the conversion of the existing building at 15 De Winton Street in Tonypandy into 18 residential apartments and commercial spaces at ground and basement levels.
In the basement there would be a café with internal and external courtyard seating.
At ground floor level there would be a commercial unit, plant room, two two-bed flats and one one-bed flat.
On the first, second and third floors there would be four two-bed flats and one one-bed flat per floor.
Built around 1892, the building is currently empty but was previously used as night club in the basement, local authority offices at the ground and first floor and a snooker club at the second.
Planning officers have recommended it be approved saying: “The proposed development represents the sustainable redevelopment and beneficial re-use of a prominent long-term vacant building within Tonypandy Town
Centre.
“The scheme would provide additional residential accommodation whilst
retaining active commercial uses at ground floor level, thereby contributing
positively to the vitality and viability of the town centre.”
They also say that the proposal would not result in unacceptable impacts
upon visual amenity, neighbouring occupiers, highway safety, flood risk or
ecological interests.
No public letters of objection or representation have been received and the plans are due to go before Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council’s planning committee on Thursday, August 13. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
