Summer Of Fun At Lido Ponty

The wait is almost over – Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, opens for its 2016 summer season this Bank Holiday weekend. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

More than 7,300 people have already visited the Council’s flagship family tourist attraction this year, during the two-week Easter holidays, a total of over 30,000 visitors since the National Lido of Wales officially opened last summer. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

With FREE swimming again throughout 2016, it promises to be another summer of fun at Wales’ premier outdoor water attraction, offering something for all ages. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The time has arrived to dig out the swimsuit and bathing towel as all roads head to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd – the home of Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “We had an amazing start to 2016 with a fabulous fortnight over the Easter holidays. That fun is set to continue as we open our doors on what is sure to be a memorable summer season. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We have three heated pools to suit all ages, as well as Lido Play, our amazing childrens’ adventure play area, our fully-interactive Visitor Centre and the Waterside Café. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty opens at 7.30am on Saturday, May 28, starting with daily lane swimming sessions followed by casual swim and activities sessions seven-days-a-week until 7.15pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty has three heated swimming pools (main pool, activity pool and splash pool) offering great opportunities for families, dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Also on offer are a range of activities which include Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz which are available for £2.50 per person. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is the only facility of its kind in Wales and is Wales’ premier outdoor pool attraction and adventure play park. Admission is FREE for all ages during 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Features at Lido Ponty include external and internal showers, heated indoor changing facilities, original wooden outdoor changing cubicles and a state-of-the-art Visitors’ Centre which tells the amazing story of The National Lido of Wales. It is also home to Lido Play, an amazing outdoor childrens’ adventure park. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty is available for club or private hire Mondays to Sundays and is also the perfect setting for private functions such as weddings and birthdays. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
