Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture said: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Since the Cabinet made the decision to invest £800k last October, good progress has been made with the works required to bring the Swimming Pool back into use and we look forward to it reopening soon. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We recognise the value placed on the facility within the community and are pleased we have been able to work with the school and make the necessary investment to re-open it over the last eighteen months. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The school and its pupils, as well as the wider community, will all benefit from the pool becoming operational again early this summer and greatly enhance the sporting facilities available at Hawthorn High. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We have also taken the opportunity to give pupils from the school experience of a construction project with a recent site visit for Year 10 pupils. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Once re-opened, the pool will be managed by the school which will provide the facility with a sustainable future in an move which is consistent with our RCT Together approach which looks at alternative methods of delivering services and operating facilities in partnership with our communities.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Hawthorn Pool is set to re-open this summer. Further details regarding its reopening will be announced in the near future. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
