Football Star Call For Award Nominations
Employers across Swansea are being urged to join the High 5 Awards campaign and recognise the achievements of inspirational young people in our communities.
Swans star Leon Britton today urged businesses and organisations to consider nominating young people who work for them for the awards which are now in their fifth year.
He hopes it will give credit to young people who have overcome their own challenges in life and are now making tremendous progress and contributing positively to that organisation and to their own futures.
Getting a nomination will allow them to inspire others and also give them confidence to make the best of their lives too.
Leon said: “I am grateful to everyone who has nominated individuals and groups so far for the High 5 awards and I hope others will consider nominating someone this year.
“While High 5 wants to recognise children and teenagers, it also rewards young people up to the age of 25 who are an inspiration to others such as apprentices, trainees, carers, and volunteers. They are helping an organisation, service, or businesses to be the best they can be.
“Being part of High 5 has given me real insights into just how many young people in Swansea are hardworking, caring, and overcoming all sorts of hurdles to do so many positive things with their lives and in their communities every day.”
The High 5 Awards are open to any child, young person or group resident, educated or receiving support in Swansea.
The age ranges are under 13s, 14 to 19 or 20 to 25.
All nominators have to do is head to www.swansea.gov.uk/high5awards and say why they think that young person is worthy of recognition for what they have done.
Everyone nominated will be recognised with a certificate. The eventual winners’ final prizes will be uniquely designed around the nominee.
