Road Repair Team Heads For Cwmbwrla And Uplands
Cwmbwrla is the latest Swansea community being visited by an intensive road repair team.
Swansea Council’s PATCH scheme (Priority Action for Community Highways) is in the area this week to fill in potholes and attend to other road defects.
The PATCH team spends an intensive week in all parts of Swansea between mid-April and the end of December every year.
After visiting Cwmbwrla, the PATCH team will visit Uplands from Monday May 30 and Landore from Monday June 6.
Their work is in addition to other Swansea Council teams that are out and about every day to inspect the condition of the city’s roads, log road defects and schedule repairs according to their priority.
Cllr David Hopkins, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Transportation, said: “Like everywhere else in the country, the wet weather has affected the roads in Swansea over the winter and spring. This led to a lot of damage, so we’re catching up at the moment in a drive to make our roads as smooth as possible for motorists.
“The condition of the roads is one of our top priorities as a council. Despite the financial challenges we’re facing, we’re continuing to heavily invest in our road network because we know how important our roads are for both residents and visitors to the city.”
Communities being visited by the PATCH team in June include Gower, Mynyddbach and Morriston.
