Two More World Class Teams Added To Airshow Line-Up
Two more world class aerobatic display teams have been added to the line-up for this summer’s Wales National Airshow in Swansea.
Swansea Council has confirmed that the Bronco Demo Team and Team Yakovlevs will be taking part in the free event on Saturday July 2 and Sunday July 3.
The Wales National Airshow forms part of the council’s Enjoy Swansea Bay programme of events and activities.
The Bronco Demo Team has been displaying at events across Europe since 2010. Although there have been a number of varying models since, the original North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco is an observation aircraft that was first deployed in the Vietnam War.
With more than 1,000 displays across the world, Team Yakovlevs also has a wealth of experience. Designed by Moscow’s famous Yakovlev Design Bureau, the aircraft have also been used for training and aerobatic competitions.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “The line-up for one of the most anticipated events in Swansea this summer is now starting to take shape.
“In addition to the other aircraft taking part and a variety of ground-based activities and displays, the Bronco Demo Team and Team Yakovlevs will help entertain many thousands of Swansea residents and visitors on the first weekend of July.
“More aircraft will be confirmed over coming weeks and months as we continue to count down to an event that puts Swansea on the map both across the UK and further afield.”
This year’s Wales National Airshow will be the first time the event has ever been held on two consecutive years, as Swansea Council makes more progress on developing the event into an annual attraction.
More than 170,000 spectators flocked to Swansea’s promenade to enjoy last year’s Airshow, generating over £7.6m for the local economy.
