Wales Euro 2016 Games Live On Castle Square’s Big Screen In Swansea
Football fans can watch Wales go for glory at Euro 2016 on Castle Square’s big screen.
Swansea Council has confirmed each Wales game will be shown live from France on the screen in the heart of the city centre as part of a great summer of sport across the city.
Wales kick-off their European Championship campaign against Slovakia at 5pm on Saturday June 11 in Bordeaux.
Managed by Chris Coleman, a product of Bishop Vaughan School and a former Swan, the Wales team will then take on England in Lens at 2pm on Thursday June 16 before facing Russia at 8pm on Monday June 20 in Toulouse.
If Wales qualify from their group, then the team’s knockout games will also be shown live on Castle Square’s big screen.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “This is the first time the Welsh football team has qualified for a major championships since 1958, so the huge anticipation that’s now building is totally understandable.
“As the city of the Premier League Swans, it’s only fitting that the Wales games should be shown live on Castle Square’s big screen, not just because of the number of Swans players in the squad, but also because of the huge appetite and passion the city of Swansea has for football.
“Castle Square is a great place to watch live sport because of the quality of the big screen and the atmosphere of being in a crowd. These screenings give Swansea people and visitors to the city another option when considering where to watch the Welsh games in Euro 2016.”
The big screen in Castle Square will also be showing live coverage from this summer’s Rio Olympics at selected times between August 5 and August 21.
The screenings form part of the Enjoy Swansea Bay programme of events and activities this summer.
