Torfaen council needs full-time foster carers to support young people with particularly challenging behaviour. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

MIST (Multi-disciplinary Intervention Service Torfaen) is a multiagency partnership working to help keep looked after children in Torfaen with complex needs in their local communities which is currently managed by Action for Children. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Prior to the development of the MIST service, children and young people with the most complex needs tended to experience multiple foster care placement breakdowns. Their risk taking and challenging behaviours, as well as their significant emotional needs, often exceeded the resources of Local Authority foster carers and schools. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Torfaen and Action for Children are looking for MIST carers in the Torfaen area with the necessary resources to meet these children’s complex needs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
