Get Ready For The Cwmbran Big Event This Weekend

The fifth annual Cwmbran Big Event takes place this weekend (Saturday 11 June) at Cwmbran Boating Lake from 12pm-5pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The event includes sporting competitions, craft and food stalls, and a wide variety of music and dance acts, headlined by the Voice’s Tobias Robertson. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There will be rides and activities for small children, Greenmeadow Community Farm animals, paddle boats, a climbing wall, and for the first time there will also be a laser tag arena. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Dog lovers are encouraged to bring their pets along to enter into the dog show at 2pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

You can also visit Llanyrafon manor where there will be a craft market to browse or enjoy a coffee and a delicious piece of cake in the tea rooms which are now run by Elm Tree Foods.  There will be games available for children and picnic blankets for the family. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Parking will be available at Llanyrafon school just a short walk from the boating lake itself. Visitors are also encouraged to walk or cycle to the event if possible, and cycle parking is available on site. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Recycling facilities are also available, and visitors will able to recycle most of their waste, including glass bottles, cans, paper, plastic and cardboard, on-site. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

More than 10,000 people attended last year’s event and most activities are free, and designed to be fun for the whole family. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Cwmbran Big Event is funded by Torfaen council, Cwmbran Community Council, Henllys Community Council, Llanyrafon and Croesyceiliog Community Council. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

It is sponsored by Torfaen Leisure Trust, Owen’s Catering, Rubin, Lewis, O’Brian solicitors, Everett, Tomlin, Lloyd and Pratt solicitors, Sidoli’s, and Torfaen Business Voice. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
