Seven Year 8 Pupils from Cwmbran High School successfully completed the Phoenix Project run by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service in Malpas this week. The Inspire to Achieve participants worked with the professional crew to gain an in depth understanding of fire and rescue drills as well as learning about personal safety, and crimes and consequences. The course concluded with the young people undertaking a passing out drill in front of their parents and school progress manager. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Gareth Martin, from the Inspire to Achieve project, said: “The course has provided the young people with a great understanding of how their behaviour has consequences and how important it is to behave in a responsible manner. The skills they have developed such as team work and communication will be extremely beneficial for all aspects of their lives”. Angharad Wooding, also from Inspire to Acheive, added: “The group engaged with the course superbly and were a credit to the project and their school. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
